I think we do a lot of things pretty darn well over at Backwoods. One thing I think we absolutely suck at, though: tracking our kegs. Right now we have ideas of where they are, generally speaking, but no system to give us a definite answer of where they're sitting. What's even more troublesome is how often I send revised invoices because someone in the brewery who was CC'ed on the original invoice says, "Oh yeah, they also decided at the last minute that they wanted to add two 1/6th BBLs of Log Yard - mind revising it?" OR the always fun note from a distributor: "Hey, we'd love to pay this past due invoice, but you haven't issued us a credit for returned kegs from a week ago that we were hoping to net against the payment." The lack of professionalism that I feel about this, and the fear that kegs could be walking out the doors of our distributors, is convincing me that we need a better solution. I strolled around Google to look at keg tracking solutions, and I see options that range from RFID trackers to free iPhone apps (free after you purchase barcodes or some such, I assume). Are any other microbreweries on here using a software that they really like? Honestly, location tracking isn't even a must-have for us, but having an easy way for our cellar man to record when kegs are going in or out and to whom would be a huge step up from our current (nonexistent) system. Anyone using anything? Or have a good home grown (non-software, non-app based) system that they like and doesn't require a lot of additional paperwork at the dock? Thanks in advance for the input!
